01 // Floor
Italo drive
Octave bass movement, bright arpeggiators, gated snares and warm analog polysynths keep the rhythm direct and danceable.
PN-007 // Night case
An Italo Disco Synthwave Crime Story by Signal Fiction
12 tracks // 00:48:21 // Parallel Names
By dawn the case can still be returned. The night cannot.
Three nightlife workers. One case of cash. Forty minutes left before morning.
Incident // About 1:45 AM
Mara is closing another underpaid shift when she moves the wrong customer's car and finds a hard black case behind the passenger seat.
Dani is there when a dead patch on the radio seems to say, "Take it." They remove one bundle, split it and promise to return the rest before Mara's 6:00 AM shift.
For a few hours, the money works. Doors open. Staff remember them. Then another bundle is missing, a third friend is pulled into the night, and the voice appears only when someone already wants permission to wait.
How far can they go before returning the money is no longer the same as undoing what they did?
Night sequence // 12 tracks
The story begins with Mara alone at work. Dani joins her during the discovery, and Rui enters at Hotel Atlantic after the original choice has already been made. The clock tightens toward a 6:00 AM morning shift, while the additional missing bundle and Mara's final decision remain unresolved.
Before 1:45 AM // Closing shift
Mara finishes an underpaid nightlife shift while expensive cars, hotel guests and easy spending pass through her hands.
About 1:45 AM // Discovery
Mara and Dani find the case in the wrong customer's car. A brief voice crosses the radio: "Take it."
Shortly after // First choice
They take one bundle, split it and build a reasonable-sounding boundary around an irreversible choice.
2:00-3:00 AM // Reward
Mara and Dani spend. The room stops making them wait, and the tenor-led instrumental lets the fantasy work.
2:00-3:00 AM // Borrowed status
People who ignored them last week now smile, wave them through and remember who they are.
About 3:30 AM // Rui enters
Mara and Dani call Rui to a hotel garage and show him the case. He did not make the first choice and wants it returned.
4:00-5:00 AM // Recount
They count again. Mara and Dani admit taking one bundle, but two are missing. Nobody claims the second.
5:00-5:20 AM // Delay
As they prepare to leave, Dani says an ordinary speaker told him, "Not yet." Mara and Rui hear nothing. The group waits.
5:20 AM // Move
Hesitation ends. Forty minutes remain before the morning shift, and forward motion feels like relief.
About 5:35 AM // One more
Dani insists on one unnecessary stop. A processed echo may repeat the excuse he has already chosen.
About 5:45 AM // Return
Dani puts his share back. Rui waits. Mara still holds hers as another car enters the garage. The signal is silent.
6:00 AM // Morning shift
Mara takes the first keys of the morning. The radio is ordinary. Her coat hangs behind the door, its pocket unchecked.
Sonic identity
Cash Before Dawn is Italo Disco first: melodic octave bass, disciplined four-on-the-floor rhythm, crisp drum-machine detail and concise hooks.
Synthwave and Outrun widen the humid streets, garages and pre-dawn horizon without turning the story into generic retro spectacle.
Mara is the album's only singer, using a new cool, smoky female lead voice that keeps her viewpoint close and controlled. The brief signal is a separate processed spoken intrusion. Processed real tenor saxophone is the recurring human melodic signature, growing into its largest statement at the final return.
01 // Floor
Octave bass movement, bright arpeggiators, gated snares and warm analog polysynths keep the rhythm direct and danceable.
02 // City
Darker harmony, early-digital sheen and wide nocturnal space carry the road movement and deadline pressure.
03 // Human line
Restrained vocals hold the story close while breathy bends, clipped falls and sustained sax notes reveal its emotional weight.
Character triangle
Only Mara and Dani make the original decision. Rui enters later and becomes trapped inside its consequences.
Mara // Viewpoint
A valet and parking attendant whose voice carries the entire sung narrative. She hears the first signal, shares the stolen bundle and reaches dawn with her final choice unstated.
Dani // Pressure
A nightlife worker present at the theft. He becomes the second person to hear the signal and treats "Not yet" as permission to delay.
Rui // Counterweight
A driver and delivery runner called in at Hotel Atlantic. He hears no signal and insists that the others are avoiding their own choices.
Signal record // Incomplete
The signal never reveals anything the three could not know, never gives a workable plan and never protects them.
It appears near moments when somebody already wants a worse decision. The consequence is human: they listen, interpret, wait and lose time.
At the parking structure, when a choice finally has to be made, the voice is absent. The next morning Mara checks the radio and hears weather, traffic and familiar music.
A command, an echo, or permission they were already looking for?
6:00 AM // Ordinary radio
No owner waits beside the car. No confrontation settles the night. One missing bundle is still unexplained, and the amount finally returned is never confirmed.
Mara is back in the same white shirt when the first customers arrive. Her coat remains behind the door. She does not check the pocket.
By dawn the case can still be returned. The night cannot.
